Transitions

Content

Part of research data stewardship is management of data and associated resources when a researcher moves. A university setting is designed for transitions: students graduating, starting a new career, changing careers, changing institutions, etc. There are often requirements and expectations when a researcher plans to take research data when they leave UNL, some of which may get lost in the excitement of change. The resources on this page are intended to inform and assist researchers who are in or planning a transition.

Student Researchers

This Offboarding Checklist is intended for graduate students + postdoctoral researchers, but can be used for any students involved in research. It includes a section for supervisors of student researchers, as well. Available in a .doc version for customization or 3 page .pdf for printing.

The Office of Graduate Studies also has an on-boarding resources for new students.

Research Compliance Integrity and Security (RCIS) have many helpful templates and forms, including transitional checklists:

RCIS also has information on data use, data transfer, and material transfer agreements (DUAs, DTAs, MTAs), which may be relevant when research data is in transit.
