Software
UNL provides some analysis software to the campus community. These are most easily accessed on managed devices (computers owned by UNL that receive support from NU ITS), under Software Center (PC) and Self-Service (Mac). Students may gain access to available software though Husker Tech. Employees may need to work with their usual ITS supports or by submitting a ticket through support@nebraska.edu. Software such as AcrGIS, MATLAB, SAS, and SPSS can also be requested through the IT software request form.
Services
There is a great deal of analytic expertise within UNL, but there are also services to assist the individual researcher. Some Core Facilities provide analytic supports, and some also provide trainings. For example, HCC regularly offers software carpentry sessions in open access softwares like Python and R, including workflows and documentation. And the Libraries offer trainings in ArcGIS.
Most analytic service providers at UNL are service centers, which include rates for the time spent. Some services include:
- The Statistical Cross-disciplinary Collaboration and Consulting Lab (SC3L) can provide support for Master’s theses, PhD dissertations, or faculty research (FREE - see website for logistics and support limits)
- Bioinformatics Core Research Facility - offers education, analysis, and computational services in the area of bioinformatics and computational biology
- The Biomedical and Obesity Research Core (BORC) - a one-stop shop core facility in the Nebraska Center for the Prevention of Obesity Diseases (NPOD). BORC provides cutting-edge biomedical research services for investigators in the University of Nebraska system and external users
- Bureau of Sociological Research (BOSR) - BOSR is a "one-stop research shop" that develops and manages mail, web, telephone and in-person surveys as well as focus groups. In addition, BOSR offers support for research designs, data processing, evaluation, and other research supports
- Center on Children, Families and the Law (CCFL) Legal and Policy Analysis - CCFL is uniquely qualified to assist policy makers, agency directors, judges, and legal practitioners with analyzing and implementing systemic changes to policies and practices for vulnerable populations
- Central Plains Federal Statistical Research Data Center - serves as a point of access to restricted-use versions of important datasets maintained by the U.S. Census Bureau and other federal agencies. The center hosts a secure computing lab where qualified researchers with approved projects can conduct research using restricted-use microdata
- Data and Life Sciences Core - develops and supports the data management and analysis needs of faculty and students involved in biomolecular communication research
- Flow Cytometry Core Facility -provides users with instrumentation, support and technical service for cell sorting and analysis
- Methodology, Analytics & Psychometrics (MAP) Academy - promotes the advancement of methodologies and analytics to support and enhance rigorous, substantive research within the social, behavioral and educational sciences
- Methodology and Evaluation Research Core Facility (MERC) - a service center and core facility providing a range of evaluation and data services
- Nebraska Evaluation and Research (NEAR) Center - promotes sound statistical, measurement, and research (e.g., Quantitative, Qualitative, and Mixed Methods) methodology
- Proteomic Program - provides mass spectrometry-based analyses of proteins and peptides, including sample preparation, LC-MS acquisition and data analysis
- Systems Biology Core - located in the Center for Integrated Biomolecular Communication, incorporates systems biology instrumentation, methodologies, and expertise at Nebraska—the Microscopy Core Research Facility and the Molecular Analysis and Characterization Facility—to meet the 'omics' and microscopy needs of researchers
